A message from our team
Thank you for your generous support as a Walk for Women’s Cancer fundraiser. As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on the generosity of the community to continue our lifesaving work and we are committed to getting the most out of the funds raised by our supporters.
With this in mind, we recently reviewed our fundraising activities and found that our Walk for Women’s Cancers and Pink Ribbon campaigns were very similar. We decided to integrate the Walk for Women’s Cancers with the Pink Ribbon campaign because the Pink Ribbon is better known, more established and has more fundraising options. This means that more of the funds you raise will go towards providing much needed services to help Queenslanders impacted by cancer.
Can I register for Walk For Women’s Cancers 2022?
This year, Walk For Women’s Cancers is rebranding into the Pink Ribbon family.
You can still walk and raise funds for women’s cancers by registering with Pink Ribbon.
By participating in Pink Ribbon will my funds still support women?
Money raised from your Rink Ribbon fundraiser will help fund Cancer Council’s world-class research into women’s cancers, cancer prevention and advocacy programs, and support services to help those affected by women’s cancers.
What has Walk For Women’s Cancers rebranded to?
Walk For Women’s Cancers will now sit within Pink Ribbon.
Why has Walk For Women's Cancers rebranded?
The rebrand will:
- Allow our dedicated and loyal supporters to still walk and fundraise as before.
- Give our fundraisers added flexibility and new ways to fundraise for women’s cancers.
- Provide more offerings for participants wanting to support women’s cancers.
- Simplify yet strengthen our offerings as a leading charity for women’s cancers.
- Make better use of our resources.
- Allow our Fundraising Support and Community Engagement Teams to provide more valuable support where it’s needed.
What are other ways I can support women’s cancers?
- Host a pink event
Host a pink-themed party, morning tea, trivia night or another event to raise money for women’s cancers.
- Wear pink
Encourage your guests or colleagues to wear pink and make a donation at your next get-together. Hold a best-dressed competition or make a rule that anyone who doesn’t wear pink has to donate extra.
- Get active in pink
Support the cause by adding a pink twist to your next yoga class, workout group or sporting event. Whether everyone wears a pink headband or wristband, or decks themselves out head-to-toe in pink, it’s a great way to raise awareness and funds for those affected by women’s cancers.
What is Pink Ribbon?
Pink Ribbon is a fundraising campaign which encourages participants to host a pink event or activity throughout the year. Funds raised through Pink Ribbon fundraising events and activities will support women affected by women’s cancers.
Where is the Pink Ribbon website?
Is there a registration fee?
Where do the raised funds go?
Pink Ribbon messaging is targeted at women’s cancers.
All funds help support Cancer Council Queensland to invest in vital research and enable us to continue our support services for all Queenslanders and all cancers.
What is a virtual fun run?
A virtual fun run (or walk) is one you can complete at any location, at your pace, outside or on a treadmill, alone or with a group of friends.
By joining Pink Ribbon, participants can walk anytime, anywhere and show their support to Queensland women affected by cancer by raising funds.
