This year, you can Walk for Women’s Cancers anywhere, anytime over 7 days (from 5 to 11 September).
However, if you need a little inspiration as to where to walk – we’ve done some of the homework for you. Check out these gorgeous places in your local area to make your walk even more memorable!
Cairns
Arrow Tracks/Mt Whitfield
Situated at Mt Whitfield Conservation Park, the arrow tracks are set amongst the lush rainforest. The Red Arrow is a short loop of 1.3km, Green Arrow is 3km and for the adventurous, the Blue Arrow is a 5.4km loop.

Palm Cove Esplanade
Take a walk alongside one of the best beaches in Cairns. The esplanade strip is a lovely 2km.

Ivan Evans Track
This ‘hidden gem’ at the back of Bayview Heights, winds through the dense rainforest and climbs to a view point. This climb is 2.4km return.

Behana Gorge
This place is pure magic! Hike up the steep hills of the gorge to discover a pool below the waterfall. This is a challenging hike that is 3.5km return.

Cairns Esplanade
A lovely 5km walk along the esplanade with views over the ocean. (This is the usual spot where the event would take place.)

Glacier Rock Lookout
A stunning trail through the rainforest to a beautiful view over Cairns and the hinterlands.

Mount Whitefield Via Red Arrow
Primarily rainforest, moderate walking or hiking trip.

Townsville
Castle Hill
There are a variety of tracks leading to Castle Hill with spectacular views out to Magnetic Island. The most popular track being the Cudtheringa Track (2.2km return) which starts at the bottom of the hill and finishes at the summit.

Mount Louisa Bush Walking Track
The track winds its way up the contours of the mountain eastward and then turns to the west and comes back to the summit of one of the peaks. Along the track you will find benches, a viewing area with panoramic views of the city, and interpretive signs with great information about the history of the area.

The Strand
This stunning beachfront walk is breezy and flat and spans 2.5km

Riverway Circuit
This is a 3.7km circuit along the Ross River with views over the river.

Wetlands Circuit
This walk will get you over 10,000 steps by walking along Ross River with numerous parks to stop at along the way.

Jezzine Park and Strand Walk
Scenic views! This is great for all walking levels of walking. Dogs allowed.

Bluewater Trail
This 20km trail hosts a variety of routes to suit everyone. The sites include the Botanical Gardens, Blue Water Lagoon, Sandfly Creek Environment Walkway, Iluka Park and many more.

Gooseponds
There are variety of walking tracks around the lovely central wetlands lagoon. This will help you reach your 18km goal with over 8km of shared pathways to choose from.

Honeyeater Lookout
One of the Whitsundays most popular bushwalks. This one is for the adventurous, with birds-eye views of Airlie Beach and surrounds. This is an 8km hike and totally worth it!

Rockhampton
Botanic Gardens
Walk around the numerous trails around the botanical gardens. You can even pop in at the free zoo while you’re there!

Kershaw Gardens
Take a walk in this beautiful park with waterfall views. This walk is 3.7km return.

Yeppoon Foreshore
This spectacular walk takes you along the coastline with ocean views. This walk is 8km and you can choose how far you’d like to make the loop.

Bundaberg
Bargara to Kellys Beach
A lovely coastal walk alongside the sandy white beach. This walk is 6km and will take you to Kellys Beach.

Baldwin Swamp Environment Park
With a network of bush and concrete walking tracks, boardwalks and bridges, this walk has it all!

Botanic Gardens Tracks
There are some fantastic walking locations and bush tracks through the wetlands.

Riverside Boardwalk
This is a beautiful boardwalk along the Burnett River suitable for the entire family. This walk is 3km from start to finish.

Sunshine Coast
Mooloolaba to Alexandra Headlands
This scenic 6km return track winds along the coastline with amazing views of the ocean.

Mooloolah River National Park
This coastal lowland habitat features open eucalypt woodlands, melaleuca forests and a rainforest. With a variety of lush trails to choose from 2km up to 5km return trip.

Mt Coolum
If you enjoy a challenge this summit walk is for you. From the top of the summit, there is a 360-degreeview of the Sunshine Coast. Worth the steep 1.6km return trip.

Noosa Coastal Track
This walk is absolutely breathtaking! The Coastal Walk is 10.8km return, however you can go as far as you like.

Brisbane
Brisbane Riverwalk
One of Brisbane’s most popular river walks. This boardwalk hangs out over the water and is a 1.6km return trip.

Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges (Gateway Bridges)
These bridges are the official name of the Gateway Motorway across the Brisbane River, and they have their own five-kilometre return walking path. The expansive views span across the river and beyond. There are shelters with seating and water access at regular intervals throughout.

Jindalee to Rocks Riverside Park
Riverside trails without the busy inner city buzz. The 3.6-kilometre walk passes by the Jindalee Pool before heading off to meander along the Brisbane River. Finish off at the park, where an 800-metre riverside promenade awaits.

Redcliffe
This seaside walk is a 12km return trip however you can choose to start and finish wherever you’d like. This walk takes you past Bee Gees Way, Redcliffe Jetty and up to the far northern tip of the Redcliffe Peninsula.

Kangaroo Point
Twisting through Kangaroo Point cliffs, this inner-city walking circuit is 6km and takes you past some top attractions.

New Farm to Teneriffe
A leafy riverside trail of 6km return. You can also explore the Powerhouse Saturday morning markets on your return.

A leisurely seafront walk of 6km return. (This scenic walk is usually where the Brisbane event would take place.)

Thylogale Walking Track
A lush rainforest walk winding between Jolly’s Lookout and Boombana.

Gold Coast
Broadbeach Esplanade
This beautiful esplanade walk is 3km return and right in the hustle and bustle of Broadbeach with a spectacular view of the ocean.

Starting Point – Kurrawa Park to the end of the walkway and back

Burleigh Headland National Park
A little slice of heaven! The climb to the lookout is 1km, however, to make the walk longer, start in Miami and walk along the coast up to the hill and back.

North Burleigh Lookout to Tumgum Lookout
A stroll with not just one view, but two! Starting at the North Burleigh Lookout, stroll along The Esplanade to the Burleigh Headland National Park. Take the Ocean View Lookout Track for the final kilometre. The round-trip is about 7.6km.

Kirra Beach to Point Danger
This stunning walk winds you around the coastline up to point danger with specular views over the ocean. This return trip is 4km

Currumbin Creek Walking Trail
Featuring the Beree-Badalla Boardwalk, this track winds along the beautiful riverside for a return trip of 7km.

Starting Point – Start at the Palm Beach Parklands and follow the Beree Badalla Boardwalk along the creek to the Old Railway Bridge, cross the river and head back down along the river on the Currumbin side and cross the river back to Palm Beach Parklands.

Golden Four Beach Walk
Set along the coastline, starting from Currumbin Beach this 12km return trip will take you past four amazing beaches south to Coolangatta.
